$50,000 lottery ticket sold at Oshkosh Piggly Wiggly
OSHKOSH – A lucky lottery winner bought a top-prize-winning $50,000 lottery ticket at the Oshkosh Piggly Wiggly, 525 E. Murdock Ave.
The ticket was part of the Wisconsin Lottery's May Madness Raffle, which sold 75,000 tickets for one $50,000 winner and two $10,000 winning tickets. The raffle had 815 other prizes.
The raffle was launched May 1, and all tickets were sold by May 16, according to Wisconsin Lottery.
The winning numbers were drawn Wednesday morning and posted online at 12:30 p.m. The winner hasn't claimed their prize, Wisconsin Lottery officials said.
The Oshkosh Piggly Wiggly, which has been owned and operated by husband and wife Mark and Susie Grunwald since 2011, has sold winning lottery tickets in the past, including a $25,000-winning Ultimate Millions scratch ticket in December 2021. But this is by far the highest-value ticket the supermarket has sold, Susie Grunwald said.
"We're excited to find out who it is. Hopefully, the customer will let us know," she said. "It's just wonderful and good for the community — not just for the store and the individual winner, but for the whole community. It's a little pump-up."
According to Wisconsin Lottery rules, winners have 180 days to claim their prize by mail or in-person at the Wisconsin Lottery locations in Madison or Milwaukee. Raffle participants can check their numbers on the Wisconsin Lottery website.
In addition to the $50,000 top prize, the two $10,000-winning tickets were sold at the Walmart Supercenter at 2001 N. Central Ave. in Marshfield and Little Chute Gas at 2221 Freedom Rd. in Little Chute.
