50 Cent to play Pine Knob in September on 20th anniversary Final Lap Tour

50 Cent’s first Detroit show was a memorable affair — a star-studded evening at the State Theatre with appearances by Eminem, Obie Trice and D12 and two banging performances of “In Da Club,” the single then taking the country by storm.
Now, 20 years after that high-energy 2003 concert, 50 Cent is headed back for his latest and possibly last metro Detroit show: a Sept. 17 date at Pine Knob Music Theatre.

The Pine Knob visit will close the North American leg of the rapper’s Final Lap Tour, celebrating the 20th anniversary of his multiplatinum debut album, “Get Rich or Die Tryin'.” Busta Rhymes and Jeremih will open.
Seats will be sold through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, which requires advance registration. The signup period is now open and running through midnight Sunday, with tickets to go on sale Wednesday.
The Pine Knob show will be 50’s first in the area since a 2010 stop at Chene Park, when he told the Free Press he’ll always have affection for a city that played a key role in his early career: “Detroit is a real hip-hop town, you know? There are artists out there that are real serious artists," he said. "They're conscious of hip-hop culture and really into their craft. So they can appreciate the things that you do that are on point, and if you do something that's a little bit off, you can expect them to recognize it."
Eminem signed the New York rapper to his Shady Records label in 2002, and “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” went on to sell more than 12 million copies in its first year, making it the bestselling hip-hop debut to that point.
There’s no word yet of an Eminem cameo in September at Pine Knob — but he does live just a half-hour from the Clarkston amphitheater.
