50-mph winds expected for metro Detroit

Are you ready for some unusual Michigan winter weather? It’s time to put those winter coats away and pull out your rain jackets. The Detroit area is expected to experience heavy rain and wind, according to the National Weather Service in White Lake. A wind advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday. Here's what to expect:

Thursday

Heavy rain is expected into Thursday afternoon with a chance of nearly 50 mph winds. The temperature will be a high of 58 and a low of 36 degrees. No more than an inch of rain is expected, and a wind advisory is in place until 10 p.m. in Livingston, Oakland, and Macomb counties.

Friday

Expect clouds with temperatures ranging from a high of 39 and low of 24 degrees. Some wind is expected with gusts up to 23 mph.

The weekend

Saturday is expected to be a sunny day with a high temperature of 36 and low of 26. Sunday will get even warmer with a high of 43 and low of 29.

Next week

Warmer weather is in sight with above-average temperatures in the 40s starting Monday and the possibility of getting up to the 50s by the end of the week.
