A 50-year-old man was killed Friday night in Milwaukee, police say

Milwaukee police are investigating the homicide of a 50-year-old man on Friday night, July 1.

The Milwaukee man died of his injuries about 10:25 p.m. at the scene in 1300 block of North 21st Street. No additional information was available on the investigation as of Saturday afternoon, police said.

The killing continues a troubling trend of homicides experienced over the last few years.

This year, the city has seen110 homicides, which is an unprecedented high, according to police data. By the same date in 2020 and 2021, Milwaukee had recorded 85 and 81 homicides, respectively, and later set new homicide records in both years.

Several victims have been juveniles. Early Friday, a 3-year-old boy from Milwaukee obtained a gun and accidentally shot himself. He later died of his injuries at the Children's hospital. The boy was the 15th juvenile homicide of 2022.
