Man dies in fall between subway cars trying to catch NYC train

A man died after he tried to grab a departing Brooklyn subway train and then fell between cars, cops said Wednesday.

The victim, believed to be between 50 and 60, was on the Q train platform near the corner of Lincoln Road and Ocean Ave. in Prospect Lefferts Gardens around 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, when the train doors began to close, witnesses told police.

The man stuck his arm into the closing door and was dragged for a brief distance before he fell between cars.

He landed on the tracks in between cars and was run over by the train, sources said.

He died at the scene. He remained unidentified Wednesday, cops said.

A second source said the man was pacing on the platform before running toward the train.

It was the latest fatality in an ongoing spate of subway-surfing tragedies.

Earlier this month, 14-year-old subway surfer Alam Reyes died when he fell from a Coney Island-bound F train in Brooklyn on Jan. 12.
