51-year-old man dies Tuesday in semi crash in Portage County town of Stockton

STOCKTON – A 51-year-old Richland County man is dead following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon.

At 12:36 p.m. Tuesday, a caller reported a traffic crash involving a semi on U.S. 10, about a half mile east of North Lane in the Portage County town of Stockton, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office. One of the vehicles was on fire.

Emergency responders found two semi tractor-trailers in the eastbound lane of U.S. 10 and extinguished the fire, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The preliminary investigation found a semi driven by a 56-year-old Winnebago County man left a nearby business and was traveling east on U.S. 10 when it was hit from behind by a semi driven by the 51-year-old Richland County man, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The Winnebago County man had minor injuries as a result of the crash. The Richland County man died from his injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.
