55,000 pounds of burritos got recalled. They might have something ‘white, semi-rigid’

Breakfast burritos, 55,013 pounds of them, became the latest product yanked from shelves by not-food-in-your-food recall Tuesday when Ruiz Food Products recalled El Monterey Signature Burrito Egg, Sausage & Cheese burritos.

Plastic isn’t among the many stated ingredients intended to be inside the frozen food.

Actually, Ruiz recalled one lot, lot No. 19288 with a best by date of 1/15/2021, of the Value Packs that come with 12 of the burritos.

“The problem was discovered when the firm notified (Food Safety and Inspection Service) of three consumer complaints involving pieces of white, semi-rigid plastic found in the product,” the USDA recall notice said.

Consumers can return the product to the store for a full refund or just toss it. Those with questions can call Ruiz at 800-772-6474.
