56-year-old Alabama man killed in Escambia County on New Year's Day
Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal New Year's Day crash on State Road 292 in Escambia County near the Alabama border.
FHP says a 56-year-old man from Bay Minette, Alabama, died Monday after the driver of the vehicle hit a raised pedestrian crosswalk just 500 feet from the Florida-Alabama border.
"Vehicle 1 left the roadway on the north shoulder, striking a concrete utility pole," an FHP report says.
The driver and a second passenger suffered serious injuries.
