6 of the 9 Boiler football opponents in 2022 made the playoffs in 2021

The Kewanee High School Athletic Department has released the tentative schedule for the upcoming football season after it was finalized by the IHSA last week.

This will be the third full season and fourth overall under Coach Brad Swanson and the Boilers have had an 18-8 record and made the playoffs in two of his three seasons, The only year they didn't make the playoffs was the one COVID-affected season.

The Boilermakers will have four home games this year and will start with the annual soap scrimmage at 6 p.m. Friday Aug. 19. KHS will be once again the Three Rivers Athletic Conference Eastern Division.

Out of the nine opponents that Kewanee will face this season, six made the playoffs.

Here's how the 2022 season shakes out:

KHS will hit the road for their first of five away games when they travel to Monmouth to take on the M-R Titans Aug. 26.

The first home game is on Hog Days Weekend Sept. 2 with the Morrison Mustangs.

On Sept 9 they will travel to Rural Peru to take on the St Bede Bruins.

Hall of Fame induction weekend will start with the Boilers entertaining the Bureau Valley Storm on Sept. 16.

Then KHS will hit the road again to face off against the Princeton Tigers on Sept. 23.

Homecoming will be Sept. 30 against the Hall Red Devils.

Boiler nation will hit the road again the next two Fridays starting on Oct. 7 against the Mendota Trojans.

They face the Rockridge Rockets Oct. 14.

And Senior Night ends the regular season with the always tough Newman Central Catholic Comets.
