A longtime central Ohio flooring store, 6 Floors Down, expanded June 13 when it opened a Pickerington location at 201 Clint Drive, Ste. 200 in the Creek Bend Center.

It's the first expansion for the business, which has operated at 186 S. State St. in Westerville the past 14 years.

Owner Steve Noel said 6 Floors Down has an established customer base and has been steadily growing, so he thought the timing was right to open another store.

"We started looking around the Columbus area and settled on Pickerington," Noel said. "It sort of has that small-town vibe, and that's what we have in Westerville."

Like the Westerville store, the Pickerington location is around 2,000 square feet.

Noel said he initially will have two full-time employees at the second store, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

"We congratulate 6 Floors Down on the grand opening of its second location and we are pleased that the company selected Pickerington as the place they wanted to grow their business," said Kim Barlag, Pickerington Area Chamber of Commerce president.

While the Westerville store serves both the residential and commercial sectors, Noel said the Pickerington store will focus on residential customers.

"We have all the typical types of flooring – carpet, tile, laminate, hardwood, luxury vinyl and some laminates and the new waterproof floors, which are getting popular," he said. "We have the full range that are the latest styles.

"We're trying to give people a choice when it comes to their flooring,” he said. “We not only sell them their floors, but we also install them ourselves."

Noel said his stores provide a single point of contact and the salesperson who helps a customer select flooring will assist them through the entire process up through installation.

Noel said the site not only enables customers to view flooring from every manufacturer that 6 Floors Down carries, but also has a feature that helps customers see how various options would look in their homes.

"We have a room visualizer," he said. "Customers can upload a photo of their kitchen or living room or any room so they can see what the flooring would look like in that room."

He said both 6 Floors Down locations offer "shop-at-home" services, through which the company's staff will bring samples and consult with customers in their homes.
