6 Lincoln County schools on 2-hour delay due to water main break

Six Lincoln County schools opened two hours late Tuesday due to a water main break.

According to the district, a water main that feeds the western part of the county broke overnight. All schools in that area operated on a 2-hour delay Tuesday morning.

The following schools were impacted:

  • Love Memorial Elementary School

  • North Brook Elementary School

  • Union Elementary School

  • Norris S. Childers Elementary School

  • West Lincoln Middle School

  • West Lincoln High School

Breakfast was not served Tuesday, the district said.

Lincoln County dispatchers told Channel 9 everyone between Lincolnton and Highway 27 near Harmon Road should have water by 8:15 a.m. Tuesday. Customers west of Highway 27 at Harmon Road should have water back by 9:30 a.m., dispatchers said.
