6 Middletown Boy Scouts Earn The Rank Of Eagle Scout

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — This past Saturday, six Boy Scouts from Middletown Boy Scout Troop 140 “Morley Rangers” of Fairview earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.

The young men were honored in an Eagle Court of Honor Saturday evening at St. Anthony Parish Center in Red Bank (27 Herbert Street). They were given their awards of merit from Charles Daniel of the Grand Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons of the state of New Jersey.

The six Boy Scouts who achieved Eagle Scout Saturday night, and their Eagle Scout projects, are:

  • Nicholas Habakus: Renovated the flashover chamber at the Middletown Fire Academy

  • Patrick William Seeley: Supervised improvements at Scudder Preserve in Atlantic Highlands

  • William Jon Franznick II: Made improvements to the outdoor prayer garden at St. James Church in Red Bank

  • Vankata Shashank Chalamalasetty: Installation of a new erosion prevention system at the New Jersey Blind Citizens' Association in Leonardo

  • Cristian A. Saravia: Made improvements to the outdoor garden at St. Anthony's Church in Red Bank

  • Daniel James Pitzer: Made a new goat shelter for the Monmouth County SPCA

Eagle Scout is the highest rank of honor a Boy Scout can achieve. There will be four more Middletown Boy Scouts who will achieve the rank of Eagle Scout in June, totaling 10 scouts this year from Troop 140 who have achieved Scouting's highest rank.

"The receipt of the Eagle badge indicates that diligent and sustained service has been rendered by these Scouts to their community and to the cause of Scouting," said Scoutmaster Don Antenucci, who has been the Fairview Boy Scout troop leader since 1992. "They pledged their sacred honor to do their best each day for the betterment of their community, their country and the world we share."

Also, with the graduation of these 10 wonderful young men, Troop 140 is getting smaller! If your son is interested in joining and gaining confidence, practical knowledge and skills, a circle of friends and improving their community, please email Troop Leader Antenucci at Dantenucci@aol.com or check out their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/group...

"It is especially remarkable because these young men have earned Eagle during the difficult times of the COVID pandemic which has been incredibly challenging," continued Antenucci.
