Man charged with DUI in Rolling Meadows crash that killed 4

A man has been charged with DUI after a fatal crash on Illinois Route 53 in Rolling Meadows on Saturday, Illinois State Police said.

ALEXIS MCADAMS: Still working to get new information tonight from Illinois State Police. Troopers tell us that crash happened right here behind me in Rolling Meadows on Route 53 just before midnight on Saturday. Out of those four people who were killed, it includes two adults and two children. Tonight, a family grieving as investigators try and figure out what happened.

Tonight, Illinois State Police investigating this fatal crash that left four people dead in the northwest suburbs. Troopers tell ABC7 the driver of this blue Ford Fiesta had pulled over on the side of Route 53 near Kirchhoff Road just before midnight. Moments later, troopers say a Jeep Wrangler smashed into the back of that car. The impact of the crash so strong it sent the vehicle across all three lanes of traffic, but four people inside, including two kids, did not make it.

State police identified the victims as 45-year-old Stacy Harris of Schaumburg, 47-year-old Herlanda Harris of Chicago, and a 17-year-old and six-year-old boy. The driver of the Wrangler, 32-year-old Lamar Graves of Bellwood was treated for minor injuries, investigators still trying to figure out why he veered off the roadway in Rolling Meadows. Tonight, witnesses tell ABC7 that vehicle was driving erratically before the crash.

Investigators still working to talk with other witnesses, asking people who have information to give them a call. You can call Illinois State Police, and your tip can remain anonymous. Tonight, that investigation still active and ongoing. No charges have been filed just yet.
