A 6-year-old Bradenton girl was seriously injured in a two-car crash on University Parkway Sunday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The girl was one of three passengers in a sport utility vehicle traveling west on University Parkway near the intersection of Legacy Drive around 10:30 a.m. when the 32-year-old driver turned left in front of an oncoming car, the FHP reported.

The oncoming car, also a sport utility vehicle, struck the turning car in the side. The child, who was wearing a safety restraint, was taken to All Children's Hospital in Tampa with injuries described as serious.

Two other passengers in the car, a 33-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman, both of Bradenton, sustained minor injuries, according to the FHP. The driver was not injured.

The 42-year-old man driving the other car and a 48-year-old passenger, both of Skokie, Ill., sustained minor injuries, the FHP said.

None of the occupants of either vehicle were identified by the FHP, which said the crash is under investigation.
