The popular Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan parade is back for its 24th year.

Sikh devotees from Stockton and other towns come together at the Gurdwara Sahib Stockton every spring for the celebration. A procession known as Nagar Kirtan starts from the temple.

The historical landmark is the very first-ever Sikh temple established in the United States and one that attracts many visitors to Stockton.

Amrik Singh Dhaliwal, former president of the Gurdwara Sahib Stockton for 12 years and a Lodi grape farmer, told The Record in 2022 some protocols for Gurdwara first-time visitors are to wear a turban or headscarf. Visitors should not bring any type of drugs, be intoxicated or have any weapons. The should be good civilians and respect everyone.
