6 Tampa restaurants added to Florida Michelin Guide

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Six Tampa restaurants were added to the Florida Michelin Guide on Wednesday.

Micheline Guide inspectors offered a sneak peek of this year’s selection, featuring 19 additions across the Sunshine State.

The additions to the guide could mean that the restaurants will be eligible for Michelin star ratings or Bib Gourmand selections.

Here’s a look at the highlighted Tampa restaurants:

Supernatural Food & Wine

Micheline Guide said this downtown Tampa spot is all about sandwiches.

It’s a bright, mood-elevating kind of place where diners come in the morning for the olive and feta sandwich, served on a toasted focaccia bun with a black olive tapenade, fluffy egg, feta, thinly sliced red onion, and roasted peppers,” the guide said.

The guide also said the restaurant’s fresh cinnamon sugar sour doughnuts are a hit (and often sell out).

Predalina

Predalina, located in the Channelside District, was highlighted for its large menu that features a “nice mix” of sandwiches and salads for lunch and house-made pasta for dinner.

“The tomato calamarata looks every bit the calamari it’s named for, and dressed with a chunky, herb-laced tomato sauce and delicious kefalograviera, or Greek sheep’s milk cheese, it’s a satisfying dish.”

The Michelin Guide said siblings Blake Casper and Allison Casper Adams founded Predalina as an homage to their great-grandmother’s coastal heritage.

Streetlight Taco

This South Tampa taqueria was highlighted for a menu featuring tacos, tostadas, salsas, sides and more.

“Don’t skip the Sunday snack tostada, an equal parts sweet-and-savory delight with two blue corn tostadas layered with cream cheese with lump crab, diced sweet mango and a mango habanero sauce,” the guide said.

The guide said the Japanese eggplant taco with an heirloom bean puree and a chile onza salsa has just the right amount of kick and a strawberry horchata “goes down perfectly.”

The Pearl

Located in the Channelside district, The Pearl offers plenty of shareable options with a seafood focus, the guide said.

“Come with friends for a fun time and to snack on treats such as fried pickles with a creamy dipping sauce or raw, baked or fried oysters. Go for broke with a seafood tower or enjoy a humbler entree, like the fish and chips. Their brown sugar pie with oatmeal cookie crust is a house classic that you’ll definitely want.”

Ebbe

Ebbe on Franklin Street is “sleek and contemporary” and its U-shaped bar dominates its space. The guide said the restaurant is hyper-focused with just one tasting menu.

“Artful plating takes center stage in dishes like the beet roulade with a brown butter and black cherry sauce. Fermented white asparagus beurre monté and sautéed spinach make a beautiful base for tender turbot that comes alive with a quenelle of sturgeon caviar. Braised oxtail with seared foie gras and a brunoise of sunchoke is equally rich and tender,” the guide said.

Kōsen

Kōsen, a Japanese restaurant located at the base of the Pearl Apartment complex on West Palm Avenue, is a two-concept spot, according to the guide.

“All eyes should be on the omakase, which Chef Wei Chen runs with skill and precision,” the guide said. “There’s plenty of showmanship and style, but the sushi leans traditional without a lot of fuss, as in the kinmedai, seared, then hit with a squeeze of lime.”
