1. Patsy Cline musical opens in Alliance

Carnation City Players is presenting the musical "Always ... Patsy Cline" starting this weekend.

A tribute to the legendary country singer, the production is Friday and Saturday, and May 19-21.

The true story follows Cline's friendship with Louise Seger, her biggest fan, whom she met at a Texas honky-tonk in 1961; they remained in contact until Cline's death. The musical features 27 of Cline's songs, including "Crazy," "Walkin' After Midnight" and "Sweet Dreams."

Friday and Saturday performances start at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday shows begin at 2:30 p.m. Adult tickets cost $13; tickets are $11 for those under age 18. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.carnationcityplayers.org/ or by calling the box office at 330-821-8712.

2. Oddmall event at the Stark County Fairgrounds

"Oddmall: Inside Out" will be at the Stark County Fairgrounds, 305 Wertz Ave. NW, from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

Featuring more than 300 artists, vendors, crafters and other creatives, the event will be both inside Exhibition Hall and outside on the grounds. Live music and more than 20 food trucks also will be featured. Tattoo artists and the Oddmall exotic animal and pet show are also planned, as well as ax throwing, outdoor games and the Oddmall costume contest.

Entry and parking are free, although donations are accepted. More details can be found at www.oddmall.info.

3. Live music in downtown Minerva

Minerva’s North Market Street will feature live music, art, food, drinks and shopping on Friday.

Live music will be featured at the Roxy Theatre, including the rock band Nameless Faces from 7 to 10 p.m. and special guest Josh Campian and Friends. Admission is by donation. Concessions will be available. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The Market Street Art Spot’s reception, “All That Jazz,” will be 5 to 9 p.m., featuring jazz-themed works by a variety of artists, live music by Roger and Lucy Romeo, and light refreshments.

The Minerva Area Historical Society’s Haas Museum will be open 6 to 8 p.m.

Shops open downtown will include SummerGirl Studio, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Vintage Home by IlluminArt and Market St Mercantile until 9 p.m., and Sphon’s CCW, until 7 p.m.

Walker’s Café will be open until 7 p.m., and the The Komfort Zone will be serving ice cream, baked goods and candy until 9 p.m.

The village’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area will be in effect 5 to 10 p.m. DORA beverages may be purchased at Sandy Springs Brewing Co., Que Pasa Mexican Restaurant, Stoney Inn and the Normandy Inn.

4. Minerva Brick Street Art & Jazz Festival

The Brick Street Art & Jazz Festival is Saturday on North Market Street in downtown Minerva, featuring a range of musical styles, as well as interactive art activities, food and crafts.

Performances will include the Hartford Middle School Jazz Band at 10 a.m.; Carrollton High School Jazz Band at 10:45 a.m.; the Minerva High School Jazz Band at 11:30 a.m.; Northwest High School Jazz Band at 1 p.m.; and the Beaver Local Jazz Band at 2:15 p.m.

Premiering at the festival will be the Minerva Community Jazz Band, led by Minerva High School band director Derrick Maxey and performing at 12:15 p.m. Other professional bands will include The John Reese Trio at 3 p.m.; The Jazz Society Big Band at 4:15 p.m.; and the Alliance Symphony Orchestra Big Band from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

A drum circle will be at 1 and 4 p.m. Festival admission is free. The village’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) will be in effect.

Activities also will include strolling magic by Tim Angeloni from noon to 2 p.m. and balloon creations by Joe Delagrange from 2 to 4 p.m.

Minerva’s downtown shops will be open, and artists and crafters will be selling their work, including jewelry, handmade soaps, scrubs and lotions, fabric and wood creations, and decorative items.

5. Mother's Day comedy with Lou Santini and his mom

Comedian Lou Santini will be presenting a Mother's Day show with his mom at Krackpots Comedy Club, 14 Lincoln Way W in downtown Massillon.

Based on Santini's "101 Weird Conversations with Mom" books, the comedy show will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Excerpts will be read from the books as part of the standup comedy performance.

Santini won "Best of the Fest" at the 2015 and 2016 Burbank Comedy Festival. He also won the 2011 Detroit Comedy Festival.

Since returning from California to Ohio in 2020, Santini, a former DJ at WRQK Rock 106.9 in Canton and WMMS in Cleveland, has been performing in the region, including on the Main Stage of Akron Civic Theatre and Hilarities in Cleveland, as well as appearances outside Ohio, including Florida and Texas.

All mothers are admitted for free when accompanied by someone with a paid ticket. Photos also can be taken with mothers under a special banner. A special Mother's Day menu also is featured. Mother's Day trivia will follow Santini's performance.

6. Waco Homecoming Festival

The Waco Homecoming Festival is 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday; 5 to 11 p.m. Friday; and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday.

The event features carnival rides, games and live music, including Toni Rio & Relentless at 8 p.m. Friday and New Wave Nation at 8 p.m. Saturday. Classic rock cover band Elliot Twist performs at 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Waco Homecoming Parade is at noon Saturday.
