60,000 laptops being offered to Maryland residents in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A program in Montgomery County is offering 60,000 free laptops to eligible low-income residents.

Montgomery County’s digital equity and inclusion program, Montgomery Connects, launched a new program that will be giving out Chromebooks.

To be eligible, you have to be a Maryland resident and have not received a computer from the county before April of 2023.

Residents must register online for an appointment, certify that they do not have access to a computer and then show up in person to pick up the device.

Here are the upcoming Chromebook distributions:

  • Feb. 17. from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Executive Office Building Cafeteria, located at 101 Monroe St. in Rockville.

  • Feb. 20. from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gaithersburg Library, located at 18330 Montgomery Village Ave.

  • Feb. 21. from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the East County Recreation Center, located at 3310 Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring.

  • Feb. 23. from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mid-County Recreation Center, located at 2004 Queensguard Rd. in Silver Spring.

  • Feb. 28. from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Long Branch Recreation Center, located at 8700 Piney Branch Rd. in Silver Spring.

  • Feb. 29. from noon to 4 p.m. at the Wheaton American Jobs Center, located at 11510 Georgia Ave. Suite 100.

  • March 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Germantown American Jobs Center, located at 12900 Middlebrook Rd.

  • March 2 from noon to 4 p.m. at the East County Recreation Center, located at 3310 Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring.

Supplies are expected to run out by May or June, so residents are encouraged to make appointments now. The program will prioritize Montgomery County residents.
