60-year-old woman killed, man seriously injured in crash on Route 3 NB in Weymouth

A 60-year-old woman is dead after a crash on Route 3 in Weymouth, Saturday morning.

According to State Police, around 5 a.m. troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 3 northbound in Weymouth.

Investigators said a 2015 Lexus SUV and a 2020 Jeep SUV were involved in a crash in the northbound lanes near Exit 38 for Route 18. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.

The operator of the Lexus SUV, a 60-year-old Weymouth woman, was pronounced deceased on the scene. The passenger of the Lexus, a 34-year-old male, sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The victims’ names are not being released at this time.

The occupant of the second vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital as a precautionary measure.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

All lanes of Route 3 northbound were closed between 5:05 AM and approximately 7:30 AM. The scene was cleared around 8:00 AM.
