62-year-old Canton man identified following fatal crash near Harrisburg

Oct. 25—HARRISBURG, S.D. — A Canton, South Dakota man has been identified as the person who died in a one-vehicle crash on Friday, Oct. 21 east of Harrisburg.

Authorities responded to reports at 6:35 p.m. of a one-vehicle rollover crash about six miles east of Harrisburg.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2022 Ford F-150 Supercrew pickup was southbound on 480th Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to maneuver an incoming curve that led onto 274th Street. The vehicle went into a nearby ditch and rolled.

Gary Rang, the 62-year-old driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the crash.
