62-year-old cyclist killed by driver in pickup in Clinton County

A man died Saturday two days after being struck by a driver in a pickup truck while riding a bicycle in Watertown Township, Michigan State Police said.

The crash occurred about 7:22 p.m. Thursday night, MSP First District said in a tweet Friday. According to preliminary reports, the cyclist, a 62-year-old Grand Ledge man, was crossing Grand River Avenue near Francis Road when the driver hit him.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, MSP Lt. Brian Oleksyk said Monday. He said police do not plan to release the man's name.

The pickup truck was a 2015 Ford F-350, Oleksyk said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
