666 New Coronavirus Cases In DuPage County In Past 24 Hours

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — DuPage County has seen 666 new coronavirus cases and six deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). In total, there have been 44,045 coronavirus cases and 731 deaths, Illinois Department of Public Health reports.

The coronavirus-related deaths that were reported since Thanksgiving include four men in their 70s and two women in their 90s.

The news comes as total cases in Illinois reach 705,063. The statewide death toll from coronavirus was at 12,029 as of Friday and the recovery rate was 97 percent, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The county's system of reporting shows confirmed coronavirus cases in age groups from 0 through 9 years old to 80 and older. It also includes a breakdown of cases by municipality.

County officials caution that the numbers on the DCHD website are not up to date, due to delays in reporting from IDPH.

According to the county's breakdown, the majority of cases have affected those between the ages of 40 and 70, but all age ranges had confirmed cases. In recent weeks, there has been an uptick in cases among residents who are 20-29 years old.
