6666 Ranch general manager to speak at farm and ranch show

The general manager of the the 6666 Ranch will be the speaker for Wednesday's Agriculture Legacy Luncheon at this year's two-day Farm-Ranch-Wildlife Expo at the Taylor County Expo Center.

Joe Leathers will address the gathering, as well as celebrity chef Cowboy Newton.

The ranch operation in its entirely covers about 260,000 acres in its entirely. The Four Sixes itself is just over 142,000 acres). The 6666 was purchased in May 2021 by Taylor Sheridan, creator of the popular streaming series "Yellowstone." A spinoff of that series, "Yellowstone: 6666" will be set in Texas at the ranch near Guthrie, which is 96 miles northwest of Abilene.

The first spinoff was "1883," a prequel to the series starring Kevin Costner.

In 2021, Costner took a break from filming to appear as the headliner at the 10th anniversary of the Outlaws & Legends Music Festival with his band, Modern West.

Also at the event, the Christopher Hart family will be recognized as the Farm Family of the Year.

The farm and ranch show offers participants continuing education unit seminars through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.
