A 68-year-old San Jacinto man arrested for allegedly possessing a ghost gun faces additional charges after a search warrant at his house uncovered evidence he was manufacturing the illegal firearms, authorities said Saturday.

Steven Kent Cheek was arrested about 4:15 p.m. July 1 for allegedly brandishing a firearm near the intersection of State Street and Idyllwild Drive, said Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Daniel Chico.

"Cheek was found in possession of a ghost gun firearm and ammunition,'' Chico said. "Upon further investigation, deputies learned Cheek was manufacturing ghost guns at his residence and a search warrant was obtained.''

That search warrant was executed at Cheek's home Thursday and several firearms were found including the untraceable guns that can be assembled from kits, as well as gun parts, ammunition and a non-compliant rifle, he said.

County jail records show Cheek is facing charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm without being the registered owner.

"Additional charges will be filed against Cheek,'' Chico said.

Cheek has been in the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning since July 1 on $10,000 bail, according to sheriff's jail records.
