7 displaced in Northwest DC fire

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — DC Fire and EMS crews were at the scene of a fire in a two-story home in Northwest D.C. on Saturday afternoon.

The fire happened at around 4 p.m. in a two-story duplex in the 500 block of Madison Street NW.

Crews said the fire started on the second floor and extended to the attic.

All of the residents were able to evacuate safely and the fire was extinguished by 4:37 p.m.

Though no one was hurt, three adults, three children and one dog were displaced.

The Red Cross was called in to help.

Investigators remained at the scene to determine where and why the fire started.
