7-Eleven, Speedway, Stripes seeking 60,000 workers
May 2—7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes have a message for workers: Apply now.
The convenience store giant is holding a massive jobs event this week in hopes of adding 60,000 new employees at stores that operate under the 7-Eleven Inc. brands.
The hiring frenzy between Tuesday and Saturday hopes to fill vacancies at more than 13,000 of the company's stores in the United States and Canada.

"We pride ourselves in providing associates with career advancement, flexible work schedules and competitive pay, and we welcome you to come learn and grow with 7 Eleven, Speedway and Stripes."
Like many employers, convenience stores are desperate for new workers to fill what are often 24-hour-a-day staffing slots.
The hiring event comes as the U.S. is experiencing its biggest worker shortage in 80 years, according to analysts at investment bank Goldman Sachs.
As job postings have rebounded as the COVID-19 pandemic ebbs, workers are not answering calls to come back. Goldman Sachs estimates that there are about 4.5 million more jobs than there are willing workers.
At least 3.6 million workers have quit their jobs since April 2021, with many of them re-evaluated their work-life balance during the pandemic and the shutdowns and lockdowns, the analysts said.
Irving-based 7-Eleven executives hope to reverse the trend this week and will be offering same-day interviews and on-the-spot job offers for in-person applicants. Available jobs include both entry-level positions and management positions at its stores, as well as numerous IT and maintenance technicians.
