Sundown Sounds

Location: Ramsey Creek Beach, 18441 Nantz Road, Cornelius, NC 28031

Time: 7 to 9 p.m.

Cost: Free

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation’s free Sundown Sounds concert series will take place in several different parks throughout the summer. The first concert features Sahara Reggae Band. You can pack your own picnic or buy a treat from an onsite vendor. No alcohol or tobacco allowed. Chairs, blankets and hammocks are welcome.

Cornelius Outdoor Cinema Series

Location: Smithville Park, 18710 South Ferry Street, Cornelius, NC 28031

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Cost: Free

This installment of Cornelius’ Outdoor Cinema Series will feature “Top Gun: Maverick” and is for ages 18+ only. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will start at dusk, around 8:30 p.m. Coolers and picnic baskets are welcome, but no glass bottles or containers. Concessions will also be available.

Guided Tour of Hugh Torance House and Store

Location: 8231 Gilead Road, Huntersville, NC 28078

Time: 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Cost: Free (donations are welcome)

North Carolina’s oldest surviving store is right in Huntersville. The Hugh Torance House and Store is also one of Mecklenburg County’s only structures from the 18th century that still stands today. Every Sunday, free tours are offered of the 1779 building.

Music Bingo at Primal Brewing

Location: 16432 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Cost: Free

Mix Tape Music Bingo includes a variety of music, (including ‘80s and ‘90s hits, one hit wonders and TV theme songs. The first person to get bingo might even win a prize.

Be Well Birkdale

Location: Birkdale Village, 8712 Lindholm Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078

Cost: Free

Try out a free class by YogaSix under in the Grove. Different studios and instructors lead this weekly class, which takes place every Tuesday through Oct. 24, except July 4.

Bunco at Eleven Lakes Brewing

Cost: Free

The first Wednesday of the month, Eleven Lakes Brewing hosts Bunco. There will be three tiers of prizes. First place is most wins, second place is most Buncos and third place is most losses.
