7 important stats to know for Eagles vs. Raiders

The Eagles and Raiders are set for an interesting Week 7 matchup that begins a more manageable portion of the 2021 schedule for Nick Sirianni’s embattled team.

With Philadelphia traveling west for the most exciting road trip of the season, we’re taking a look at seven important stats to know.

1. Raiders getting after the quarterback

In the Week 6 win over the Broncos, the Raiders defense sacked Bridgewater five times, with Maxx Crosby (3.0) leading the way and three others logging at least half a sack as well.

Crosby raised his season sack total to 5.0.

2. Raiders cornerbacks making plays

The cornerbacks from the Raiders are on a hot streak similar to that of Darius Slay and Steven Nelson. Against Denver, the secondary finished the game with eight pass deflections. Newly signed cornerback Brandon Facyson and Trevon Moehrig both had two.

3. DeVonta Smith's chances of logging a TD in Week 7

Smith is due for a touchdown, but he might not log that against the Raiders. Las Vegas cornerback Casey Heyward Jr. has played 237 coverage snaps this season without allowing a touchdown per PFF, the most in the NFL.

4. Derek Barnett playing like a reserve

According to Reuben Frank, Barnett is the only defensive end that’s started every game this season (6) to not register a sack.

5. Derek Carr set to rain bombs down on the Eagles

Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake are fully capable of gashing the Eagles for four quarters, but Las Vegas is likely to attack Philadelphia downfield and across the middle early and often, as the Eagles have allowed 12 passing touchdowns.

Carr is top-7 in the league in attempts and second in the NFL with almost 2,000 passing yards and he’s on pace for over 5,000-yards passing this season.

6. Miles Sander productive when called upon

Sanders has averaged over 4 yards per carry in every contest accept the offensive disaster against the 49ers. Even with a down usage rate, he’s still logging 4.7 yards per carry on 57 total attempts. To put that in perspective, Derrick Henry’s lowest usage rate was 17 carries in a blowout loss to the Cardinals.

7. Henry Ruggs does ONE thing well?

Ruggs caught a 48-yard touchdown pass on the Raiders opening possession against Denver and he’s logged a 20+ yard reception in every game this season. Ruggs is among the league leaders in receiving yards with 445 on 20 catches, and he’s averaging almost 22.5 yards per catch. It’ll be interesting to see how Jonathan Gannon handles the Raiders deep attempts.
