7 people shot in under 2 hours overnight in Rochester

Seven people were shot in six separate shooting incidents around Rochester a two-hour span overnight following the Independence Day holiday, according to Rochester police.

No serious injuries were reported and officers are investigating whether any of the shootings were connected, said Lt. Jeffrey Pursel of the Rochester Police Department.

The incidents include:

  • A 29-year-old Rochester man was shot in the lower body on North Goodman Street, near Pennsylvania Avenue, in northeast Rochester around 10:55 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

  • A 30-year-old Rochester man was shot in the upper body near Cottage Street and Jefferson Avenue in southwest Rochester and was dropped off at Strong Memorial Hospital by private vehicle. Police were notified at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday.

  • A 19-year-old Rochester man was shot in the lower body at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park at Manhattan Square, 353 Court St., in downtown Rochester at 11:48 p.m. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

  • A 25-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man were shot near Widman and Rauber streets, just north of Flower City Park, around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. The woman, a Rochester resident was shot in the lower body and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by ambulance. The man, a Monroe County resident, was shot in the upper body and was taken to Strong by private vehicle.

  • A 22-year-old Rochester man was shot in the upper body near Sterling and Sylvan streets in northwest Rochester and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by private vehicle, Police were notified just after 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.

  • A 23-year-old Rochester man was shot in the lower body on Webster Avenue, near Bay Street, in northeast Rochester and was taken to Rochester General Hospital by private vehicle. Police were alerted at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

No one has been charged in connection with any of the shootings. Officers are investigating each of the incidents. Anyone with information about any of the overnight incidents is asked to call 911.
