7 people shot and wounded in Englewood, Chicago police say

Seven people were shot and wounded in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side late Monday, police said.

The wounded, ranging in age from 18 to 44, were involved in a fight on the sidewalk about 11 p.m. on the 6800 block of South Justine Avenue when shots were fired, police said.

A 39-year-old woman was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in serious condition with wounds to her left arm and abdomen.

A 28-year-old man and a 44-year-old man were also taken to U. of C. in fair condition, police said.

An 18-year-old man was taken to Christ Medical Center in fair condition. Two men, ages 21 and 34, were taken to Holy Cross Hospital in fair condition. A seventh person walked into Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey with a gunshot wound to the leg and was in good condition, according to police.

There was no one in custody early Tuesday and Area One detectives were investigating, police said.
