Here are 7 Springfield-area restaurants open on Christmas Day

SGT. PEPPER’S CAFE is open Christmas Day for its regular free holiday meal, but finding other restaurants open this yuletide could be as challenging as Mary and Joseph’s effort to find a room.

Owners Ziyad and Souad Samara – owners of Sgt. Pepper’s Cafe – are again inviting the public to spend the holiday meal with them at the 3141 Baker Drive cafe, after COVID-19 restrictions required their annual tradition to be a take-out affair last year.

The meal — served dine-in only from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — includes turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, a vegetable, bread and dessert.

The Samaras have served the free holiday meal since 2001.

But limited dining-out options beyond Sgt. Pepper’s doesn’t mean you have to do all the work yourself to put on a holiday spread. Below are the area restaurants/businesses that responded to our request for holiday specials.
