Gaines & Wagoner

What: Based in Madison, Wisconsin, the award-winning husband and wife duo of Mary Gaines (cello, guitar, bass, vocals) and Chris Wagoner (violin, mandolins, lapsteel, ukulele, guitar, accordion, vocals) play an eclectic mix of Americana—original and classic tunes ranging from folk to jazz, bluegrass to blues, honky-tonk and a little singer-songwriter on the side.

Bruce Johnson Farm to Farm Run

What: Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 30. Race Day registration is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit Ag-in-the-Classroom. Entry fee includes shirt, refreshments, prizes, finisher medals and a swag bag. Shirts and finisher medals cannot be guaranteed for registration after March 8.

Sixth Steels & Deals Spring Swap Meet & Car Show

What: Enjoy a DJ, food, door prizes and a 50/50 raffle benefitting Nik's Wish. Both days feature a swap and meet along with a judged car show on Sunday. Awards will be presented by Massive Speed System at 3 p.m.

When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Aspiring Artists 2023

What: This annual exhibition features more than 350 works of art and showcases the talent and creativity of students in regional elementary, middle and high schools.

When: On display through April 22

Where: Freeport Art Museum, 121 N. Harlem Ave.

18th Annual Home & Garden Showcase

What: This year’s event showcases more than 100 companies offering homeowners and apartment dwellers the convenience of comparative shopping for an array of products and services. Master Gardeners, Extension of U of I, will be on hand to answer all gardening questions. Planters Row, a live plant sale, will offer hundreds of plants at low show prices. There will be multiple lawn and gardening clinics.

Spring Prairie Hop

What: Community event will encourage kids to form a connection to nature through a hands-on activity and guided nature walk with an ecologist. Refreshments will be served. Dress for rain or shine.

What: Rockford Ice Hogs take on the Grand Rapids Griffins.
