7 Tippecanoe County wrestlers win conference titles

Harrison advanced six wrestlers into championship matches, with two winning championships, en route to a second-place finish in the North Central Conference.

Senior Tristen Hood scored a 16-0 tech fall victory in the 152-pound semifinals and earned a third-period pin in the championship match while sophomore Ethan Popp had two pins at 170 pounds before a 4-1 decision win in the championship to lead the Raiders, who compiled 209.5 team points, behind champion Kokomo's 223.

Nolen Richards at 126 pounds, Blake Soldati at 138, Robert Florian at 160 and Josh McKelvin at 182 all fell in the championship match representing Harrison.

McCutcheon was third and Lafayette Jeff finished fourth in the team standings.

The Mavericks claimed titles in the three lowest weight classes.

Sophomore Aiden Dallinger improved to 28-3 with a forfeit and two pinfall victories at 106 pounds. Senior Jake Stall won a decision over Lafayette Jeff's Alex Lopez in the 113-pound championship and freshman Drew Stall needed less than six cumulative minutes to pin three opponents and win at 120 pounds. Matthew Hughes (145 pounds) and Cole Chicoine (220) were runner-up in their weight class.

Junior Durya Minor was Jeff's lone champion at 160 pounds and Daeveon Cheeks was runner-up at 195 to Kokomo's Chad Washburn, a state qualifier last year.

Hoosier Conference

West Lafayette senior Connor Barket improved to 39-0 this season by winning the 195-pound championship.

Barket recorded a forfeit win, a first-period pin and a 17-2 tech fall victory on his way to a Hoosier Conference title. West Side's Jordan Lear was runner-up at 138 pounds and heavyweight Luke Amann was as well for the Red Devils, who were fourth in the team standings.

Western cruised to a team title with five individual champions.

Rensselaer placed third behind the Panthers and second-place Hamilton Heights. The Bombers won individual championships from junior Mason Stanley at 132 pounds, senior Lakin Webb at 138 pounds and junior Jordan Cree at 220 pounds.

Andrew Kline led eighth-place Central Catholic with a runner-up finish at 145 pounds and seventh-place Benton Central had a runner-up placing from Joseph Henry at 152 pounds.

Midwest Conference

West Central took the team championship, while North White celebrated four individual championships.

Liam Siburcrist, Eli Quasebarth, Kade DeBoard and Selvin Portillo all won titles for the Vikings.

Sagamore Conference

Behind seven individual champions, Southmont won its third league title in a row, outscoring runner-up Frankfort 254.5-194.5.

The Mounties received individual victories from Brier Riggle (106 pounds), Noah Benge (120), Gerald Hutson (138), Marlin Williams (145), Wyatt Woodall (195), Collin Martin (220) and Zayden Dunn (285)

Frankfort's 132-pound senior Elijah Anthony remained undefeated, improving to 26-0, while fellow Hot Dogs Leonardo Roa (113) and Nelson Honore (182) also won titles. North Montgomery's Gage Galloway was the individual champion at 152 pounds.
