73-year-old Des Moines man killed in fatal crash near Birdland Pool
One driver was killed in a fatal crash at a Des Moines intersection Wednesday night.
At approximately 10:39 p.m., a pickup truck driven by 73-year-old Larry Wayne Grant heading eastbound on Holcomb Avenue and a car driven by a 34-year-old man going southbound on Second Avenue collided, according to a news release from the Des Moines Police Department.
Grant died at the scene but the second driver was not injured. Both were Des Moines residents. Neither had additional passengers.
The Des Moines Police Department Traffic Unit is conducting a technical investigation of the crash, the release said.
This is the seventh traffic-related fatality in Des Moines during 2023.
