I-75 near Micanopy blocked for hours after semi overturns, spilling drywall, fuel on highway

A section of Interstate 75 was blocked for hours Tuesday after a tractor-trailer overturned and spilled its load over the highway, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Troopers said the big rig was carrying drywall when it overturned on northbound I-75 by mile marker 370, which is near Micanopy.

Injury: Early morning collision near Dunnellon injures truck driver

Law enforcement officials said the semi veered onto the left shoulder and the front left wheel hit the guardrail. The rig and its trailer overturned spilling both fuel and its contents. Officials said the wreckage blocked both the north and southbound lanes.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m. The roadway was re-opened shortly after 9 p.m.

The 45-year-old driver from Jacksonville, Alabama, was wearing his seatbelt and wasn't injured, authorities said.
