757Teamz boys basketball Top 15: King’s Fork stays on top despite loss to nationally ranked team, Lake Taylor jumps into top 10

King’s Fork, ranked No. 1 in the boys basketball 757Teamz Top 15, and No. 7 Landstown played over the weekend in the Future Stars Roundball Classic II at Virginia State.

The Bulldogs lost 73-45 to nationally ranked Imhotep Charter of Philadelphia. The Panthers (3-0) came in ranked No. 4 nationally in the MaxPreps poll and No. 16 in USA Today, as well being ranked by ESPN and Sports Illustrated.

Canarsie High of Brooklyn, New York, snapped Landstown’s five-game winning streak with a 60-38 victory.

In other games last week, Lake Taylor improved to 3-0 with a 71-50 win over Smithfield at the VA Hoopfest Showcase. The Titans were led by Elijah Washington and Shahide Battle. Washington recorded a triple-double with 28 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks. Battle finished with 12 points, seven steals, six assists and five rebounds.

Several teams are playing well and will be tested soon. Great Bridge (3-1) plays Oscar Smith and Cox in the next week. Tallwood (3-1) faces Kempsville, Cox and Kellam.

Also, Nansemond River is 3-1 and has coach Ed Young nine wins away from 500 for his career.
