757Teamz softball Top 15: Nansemond-Suffolk Academy solidified hold on No. 1 with 11-inning win over Hickory

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy made a pair of big moves last week as it nears nailing down the No. 1 spot in the final 757Teamz rankings. It remains in the top spot in the penultimate rankings after beating then-No. 3 Hickory 4-1 in 11 innings, before edging then-No. 6 Greenbrier Christian 3-0 Sunday for the TCIS Tournament title.

NSA begins its quest for a third consecutive VISAA Division II state title Tuesday as it hosts Roanoke Catholic in a quarterfinal matchup. Should all go as expected, the Saints (21-2) will play at 3 p.m. Friday at the Dinwiddie Sports Complex for the state three-peat.

A mover of late in the rankings, and a probable force in the upcoming Class 4 Region A tournament, is Great Bridge. The Wildcats (12-4) jumped two spots this week to No. 6 after beating Hickory 6-4.
