76-year-old man rescued after being trapped in grain bin for 5 hours

A 76-year-old man was rescued after he was trapped in a grain bin for hours Monday afternoon.

The Wilmington Fire Department was called to the 3800 block of Stone Road in Sabina after reports of a 76-year-old man buried up to his chest in a grain bin filled with corn, according to our news partners at WCPO.

Officials told WCPO that the man was checking inside the bin after grain was falling out of the bottom.

Due to the amount of corn in the bin, firefighters had to cut holes into the bin to let it come out, according to Wilmington Fire Chief Andy Mason.

Crews were able to pull the man through one of the holes after five hours, Mason said.

He was sent to the hospital for further evaluation. His current condition is not known.
