Interstate 77 south in Richfield has reopened following a three-hour closure caused by the crash of a semi tractor-trailer at I-271.
Richfield police reported that around 4 p.m. the truck rolled over across the entire southbound side of the highway. Police said the driver, who was not injured, had been hauling a load of peat moss from Canada and took the turn entering I-77 south from I-271 too quickly. He was cited for failure to control.
The the highway was reopened around 7 p.m.
Southbound traffic on I-77 had been diverted onto I-271 west/south and the ramp from I-271 to I-77 was also closed – resulting in a backup of traffic on I-271.
