77-ton Army tank gets new home in Sidney

The United States Army moved a tank Tuesday afternoon from its former location at the VFW in Sidney to the Shelby County Veterans Center a few miles away.

The 77-ton tank dates back to the early 1960′s and was used in the Vietnam War.

The tank was moved without any issues after obtaining an overload permit from the Ohio Department of Transportation. ODOT also had to approve the route used for moving the tank without causing any damage to the pavement and bridges.

The M60 is one of the world’s most successful main battle tanks with 15,000 having been produced and serving in armies of 22 countries.
