8 high school students from around the county receive $100,000 Daniels Fund scholarships

Eight high school students in the region will receive up to $100,000 in scholarship money toward an undergraduate degree, depending on their need, from the Daniels Fund, the organization announced Wednesday.

Daniels Scholars may use their scholarship at any accredited nonprofit college or university in the country.

The 238 students selected this year from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming were selected “for their strength of character, leadership potential, commitment to serving the community and academic potential,” according to a news release announcing the winners. The private charitable foundation that awards the scholarships was established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels.

The 138 Daniels Scholars from Colorado this year include:

  • Fossil Ridge's Zane Kondratieff

  • Colorado Early Colleges' Lauryn Oram

  • Liberty Common’s Mason Sanfilippo

  • Windsor’s Taylor Eskew

  • Thompson Valley’s Allie Sanders

  • Resurrection Christian’s Camden Martin

  • Severance’s KeeLei Burrows

  • Berthoud’s Jesse Hatton

This year’s winners bring the total number of Daniels Scholarship winners to more than 5,000, including about 1,000 currently in college at roughly 200 colleges and universities across the country, the news release said. More than $250 million in scholarships has been awarded through the program.

Students who will graduate in 2024 can apply to be Daniels Scholars in September, at DanielsFund.org.
