What’s for dinner?

It’s the age-old question that has plagued couples and families for generations. Now, compound that question with a desire to try a new restaurant without knowing if it is worth your time or hard-earned money.

The crowd-sourced review site Yelp has tried to alleviate part of this problem by keeping tabs on new restaurants and whether customers are enjoying them.

Below are eight of the best-rated new restaurants in Columbia, Greenville, Spartanburg, Charleston and Myrtle Beach areas, according to Yelp. All of the restaurants listed have been open for a few weeks to around three months.

Columbia

MOA Korean Restaurant & Bar

According to MOA’s website, Korean barbecue’s origins can be dated back more than 2,000 years. And with a wide variety of meat, vegetables and sauces to choose from, this ‘choose-your-own-adventure’ style of eating has exploded in popularity in recent years.

“Another fine addition to Columbia,” reviewer Rick T. of Columbia wrote on Yelp on Oct. 14. “Excellent lunch and desserts. Looking forward to my next meal.”

MOA is located at 1333 Main Street.

Paris Bánh Mi

Paris Bánh Mi opened just over two weeks ago and has already garnered rave reviews. The restaurant specializes in a Vietnamese bánh mi sandwiches, which are typically made on a baguette. Customers can order various types of sandwiches, such as the grilled pork sandwich that comes with jalapeños, mayonnaise, cucumber, pickled daikon and carrot and cilantro. The restaurant also offers various desserts and boba teas.

“Being that I love Bánh Mi sandwiches when I visit New York, I had to try this spot out,” reviewer FreePour D. of Hilton Head wrote on Yelp. “I ordered the pulled chicken Bánh Mi the bread was very soft … the amount of chicken was also good.”

The restaurant is located at 3071 Longtown Commons Drive.

Charleston

Costa

Costa offers downtown Charleston coastal Italian fare from Liguria to Amalfi and down to Sicily. Led by Chef Vinson Pertrillo, the restaurant serves handmade Italian pasta, seafood, classic beef dishes and other Mediterranean-themed dishes.

“Absolutely everything we had was delicious! Don’t miss the dessert! Service was attentive, prompt and friendly,” wrote Cathy K. of Santa Barbara, CA. on her Yelp review.

Costa is located at 320 Broad Street.

Ruby’s New York Style Bagels

Ruby’s New York Style Bagels is the creation of Joe Harvey and Kevin Roach, along with their partners Denise and Gail, the company’s website states. The bagels are baked fresh all day long with unbromated and unbleached flour dough with no chemical additives. The bagels are also kettle boiled and baked, giving them a crunchy exterior and chewy center.

The shop offers 20 varieties of bagels each day, along with a variety of spreads and different coffees.

Ruby’s is located at 1836 Ashley River Road.

Myrtle Beach area

Chopsticks

If you’re in mood for quality Chinese food, Chopsticks should have what you crave. All the dishes you could think of are there, from Chicken Lo Mein and sweet and sour pork to moo goo Gai pan and General Tao’s chicken.

“Easily the best Chinese takeout we have had in Myrtle Beach,” reviewer Doug P. wrote on Yelp on Dec. 20. “The General Two was quite spicy which worked for us, the noodles in the lo-mein were perfectly cooked.”

Crave Italian Oven and Bar

The Myrtle Beach-based Crave Italian opened a second location in North Myrtle Beach a month ago and has been satisfying customers ever since. Choose from sandwiches such as the meatball sub or Italian dip; pasta dishes like angel hair primavera and linguine with meatballs; entrees like chicken francese, chicken marsala with penne; or pizza and calzones.

“We love Italian food and this place was delicious,” reviewer Lauren A. Of Little River, S.C. wrote on Yelp on Dec. 22. “We enjoyed the environment and though it was December we were able to sit comfortably on the patio because of heater and blinds surrounding the space.”

Crave Italian in North Myrtle Beach is located at 202 US-17.

Greenville & Spartanburg

Pho Nomenal Greenville

Pho Nomenal Greenville offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine available for dine-in, takeout and pickup orders. Try dishes such as spring rolls, grilled meat over rice and more.

“Everything ordered was delicious. The service was great,” reviewer Casey D. of Landrum, SC wrote on Yelp in November.

Pho Nomenal Greenville is located at 477 Haywood Road.

Holliday Brewery

Holliday Brewery began as a nano brewery but has since grown to a 9,000 square-foot facility with a taproom and full restaurant. With a wide variety of craft beers and hard seltzers, as well as guest ciders and wines, there should be something for everyone. The restaurant serves craft burgers, brats, wings, salads and more.

“This is their new location and it is an impressive beauty,” reviewer Mitch K. Of Indian Land, SC wrote on Yelp on Oct. 12. “Lots of parking, clean, large bar, about 10 brews constantly due to change regularly, an upstairs private loft and excellent menu.”
