8 holiday festivities upcoming in Pflugerville

Celebrate the holidays in Pflugerville with parades, festivals, Santa Claus and more.

The city is having several festive events and programs to celebrate the holidays, including the annual Pfestival of Lights & Christmas Parade.

The free event begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday with the parade, followed by the tree lighting and photos with Santa at 6 p.m. The festival, which will run until 7 p.m., will feature performances, food and a kid's area behind City Hall.

The festivities will take place on Main Street in downtown Pflugerville, with the parade starting near Brookhollow Elementary. For the parade, Railroad Avenue will be closed at 4:30 p.m. Main Street will close at 2 p.m.

Parking will be limited, city officials said, with limited handicap parking available at 103 N. Railroad Avenue.

Winter Family Pictures

Families and friends also can have their holiday pictures taken from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday at the Pflugerville Public Library.

Registration is required. Pictures will be taken by library staff members on participants' cellphones or cameras.

The event is free.

Heritage House Christmas Open House

The Heritage House Museum will be open on Sunday from 1- 4 p.m. in celebration of the holidays. Visitors will be able to visit Santa Claus, enjoy festive music and treats. The house will be decorated to celebrate the season. The event is free.

The Heritage House Museum, also known as the Bohls House, was designated as a historic landmark in 2005.

Reindeer Ride

Take a magical ride by bicycle across the North Pole during the Reindeer Ride from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10.

The event takes participants across a lighted bike ride starting at Pfenning Park over to Pfluger Park and back. The route will have festive lighting and will feature an obstacle course and a light show.

Registration is required and open to all ages. Tickets for the event are $5 for children and $10 for adults.

DIY Family Ornament Craft

On Dec. 16, enjoy some family fun at the Pflugerville Recreation Center by decorating holiday-themed ornaments.

Between 5 and 8 p.m., families will have the opportunity to create one or more ornaments following do-it-your- own designs from staff. A parent or guardian must be present for any children under 12.

Holiday Movie on Main

Enjoy the classic Christmas film "Elf" during the Movie on Main Street on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Pflugerville Plaza, 100 E Main Street.

Hot chocolate and food will be available for purchase. The movie will start at 6:30 p.m.

Pet Photos with Santa

Residents can bring their pets to take a photo with Santa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 18. All animals are welcome but must be on a leash or in a carrier.

Photos will be taken at Pflugerville Plaza, 100 E Main Street, using residents' cell phones or camera. The photos are free but donations are accepted.

Pfreeze Pflop

Brave participants can celebrate the new year with a slide into the water at Scoot Mentzer Pool, 901 Old Austin Hutto Rd at 9 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Admission is free with a donation of a canned food item that will benefit a local food bank.

A limited number of attendees will also receive a free T-shirt.
