8 Oregon State football players to watch for in the NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is set for Thursday through Saturday this week, and Oregon State has some players who should or could be selected.

The draft begins at 5 p.m. Thursday with the first round.

The second and third rounds are Friday, and the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds are Saturday.

Here is a look at the top Beavers who could be drafted.

Luke Musgrave, tight end

The former Beavers tight end is expected to go early in the draft, likely in the first or second round.

Musgrave, 6-foot-6 and 253 pounds, is from Bend and played at Oregon State for four seasons.

In his career, Musgrave caught 47 passes for 633 yards and two touchdowns.

NFL.com gives Musgrave a prospect grade of 6.49, which means they think he could become a good NFL starter within two seasons.

NFLDraftBuzz.com gave Musgrave an overall rating of 86.4 out of 100.

In the site’s analysis, one of his strengths is: “He’s a fluid athlete with excellent short-area quickness; Musgrave should be able to create separation, and he has the straight-line speed to threaten down the seam.”

Rejzohn Wright, defensive back

The former Beavers defensive back is from East Palo Alto, California, and played three seasons at Oregon State.

Wright is 6-2 and 193 pounds.

In 31 games with the Beavers, he had 92 tackles and four interceptions.

NFL.com gave Wright a prospect grade of 6.26, which means they think he eventually could be an average NFL starter.

NFLDraftBuzz.com gave Wright an overall rating of 70 out of 100.

In the site’s scouting report, they say one of Wright’s strengths is he “can track the ball downfield and gets his head around when playing in a trail position, and Wright shows excellent ball skills when breaking on a route. He’s a plus tackler in run support as well.”

Alex Austin, defensive back

The former Beavers defensive back has pro potential and could get drafted.

Austin, 6-1 and 195 pounds, is from Long Beach, California, and played four seasons at Oregon State.

In 36 games with the Beavers, Austin had 140 tackles and four interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.

NFL.com gave Austin a prospect grade of 5.86, which means they think he will be an average backup special teamer.

NFLDraftBuzz.com gave him an overall rating of 77 out of 100.

In the site’s scouting report, one of his strengths is that he is a “Fluid mover with decent speed and his length allows him to cover effectively downfield.”

Jaydon Grant, defensive back

Former Beavers defensive back Jaydon Grant could hear his name called at this week’s draft.

Grant, 6-0 and 181 pounds, is from West Linn and played seven seasons at Oregon State.

In 57 career games with the Beavers, he had 223 tackles, nine interceptions and scored two touchdowns (one interception return and one punt return).

NFLDraftBuzz.com gave Grant an overall rating of 71 out of 100.

In the site’s analysis, one of the strengths was Grant’s ability to “flip his hips and run, with good top-end speed and the length to make plays on the ball.”

Jack Colletto, multiple positions

Jack Colletto was one of the most versatile players in college football history for the Beavers.

Colletto, 6-3 and 240 pounds, is from Camas, Washington, and played five seasons with Oregon State, and he won the Paul Hornung Award, which is given to the nation’s best-performing versatile player.

In 43 games with the Beavers, Colletto rushed for 401 yards and 22 touchdowns, caught four passes for 37 yards and a touchdown, passed for 254 yards, and had 51 tackles and an interception on defense.

According to TheDraftNetwork.com, reasons for a team to buy in on Colletto include his “competitiveness, team-first mentality and toughness.”

Brandon Kipper, offensive line

Brandon Kipper was a key offensive lineman for the Beavers.

Kipper, from Caldwell, Idaho, played in 48 games for Oregon State from 2018-22, including 45 starts.

Kipper is 6-6 and 326 pounds.

NFLdraftbuzz.com gives him a grade of 75 out of 100.

Among their scouting report strengths, they say: “He's infinitely coachable and athletically gifted with the ideal frame, physique, weight distribution, knee bend and hand strength to be molded into a special blocker.”

Tre’Shaun Harrison, wide receiver

Tre’Shaun Harrison, 5-11 and 184 pounds, was a productive wide receiver for the Beavers.

From Seattle, Harrison played 27 career games for Oregon State, and he had 90 catches for 1,147 yards and eight touchdowns.

In the scouting report by ProFootballNetwork.com, they say: “Harrison finally met expectations last season and was the go-to guy teams struggled to stop. He’s a solid underneath receiver who runs good routes and possesses reliable hands. Harrison also shows potential as a punt returner and could make a roster as a fifth receiver.”

Tyjon Lindsey, wide receiver

Tyjon Lindsey is a small receiver at 5-9, but he gave the Beavers good production despite not being the main receiving weapon.

In 39 games, Lindsey had 75 catches for 917 yards and nine touchdowns.

Lindsey had 25 carries for 184 yards and three touchdowns.

ProFootballNetwork.com said of Lindsey: “Smaller, yet quick receiver who comes with return possibilities. Fires into routes, stays low exiting breaks, and comes back to the ball. Finds the clearing in the defense, tracks the pass in the air, and adjusts to errant throws.”
