This is yet another one of those weeks in the Canandaigua and Finger Lakes areas when all you have to do is walk out your front door to find something fun and interesting to do.

From a music standpoint alone, activities include a classical performance, from Stefania Neonato on pianoforte, to a rock and roll show with Joan Osborne to local bands showing their stuff at the Safe Harbors Summer Music Fest to music at the Wood Library.

And it’s time for Canandaigua in Bloom in downtown Canandaigua, with all sorts of activities including an open-air bookstore featuring local authors and the opening of the popular Canandaigua Farm Market for the summer season.

Here’s what’s happening this week.

1. Stefania Neonato at Granger Homestead in Canandaigua

Stefania Neonato will be performing June 1 at Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum in Canandaigua.

The classical performance at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum, 295 N. Main St., Canandaigua, will be played on Granger’s Clementi grand pianoforte. The pianoforte is an earlier version of the modern piano, built in 1822 by composer, pianist and “father of the pianoforte,” Muzio Clementi. It’s one of only two Clementi grand pianofortes with a harmonic swell attachment known in the world. A reception with the artist to follow. Here's more about Neonato: She graduated from her town’s conservatory in piano and also received a bachelor’s degree in foreign language from Trento University. She went on to receive her fortepiano master degree at the Imola International Academy. Neonato writes articles for “Early Music” of Oxford Journals and “Keyboard Perspectives” of Cornell. Tickets are available online at grangerhomestead.org.
