8 ways to add foodie fun to Wilmington-area Super Bowl celebrations
What’s a Super Bowl party without great food and drink? Beyond that, though, there are so many options when it comes to football fare. Wings, guac, pizza, chips...
This year, undoubtedly, some parties will feature Cincinnati chili and California cuisine, a nod to the teams playing on Sunday: the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams.

It’s in the bag
Point Break NC, the food delivery service that opened a brick-and-mortar location in the Ogden area last year, is making it easy to get your wing-and-nacho fix for the big game.
They’re offering two sizes of “Super Bowl Bags" you can grab for your gathering. They each contain the restaurant’s signature grilled wings, a Beach Bomber nacho kit, potato wedgies, grilled corn, sauces and ranch dressing.
You can pre-order and they will have some available on game day, as well. Details: 910-319-7398, www.pointbreaknc.com, 7134 Market St., Wilmington.
Chips, chili and pizza all in one
Of the most popular Super Bowl foods, one Super Bowl special at Wilmington’s Jay’s Incredible Pizza manages to combine three in one. They’re offering the Doritos Chili Pizza for five days leading up to the football game starting on Wednesday. Details: 910-791-7080, JaysIncredible.com, 3600 S. College Road, Wilmington.
With oysters and ‘dogs
The "Big Game Party" at the Surf City location of Shuckin' Shack Oyster Bar starts at 3 p.m. with live music and a tailgate party. Look for chargrilled oysters, burgers and hot dogs outside, along with giveaways and food and drink specials.
Reservations are required after 6 p.m. Details: 910-803-2037, www.facebook.com/shuckinshacksurfcitync/, 3460 NC-50, Surf City.
A DIY taco kit

With fried ribs
You can build your own order-ahead tailgate package through Mac’s Speed Shop in Wilmington. You can get sauces and extras like pork rinds, slaw, and chips and queso on the side.
Orders must be placed by Feb. 12. Details: 910-947-6100, macspeedshop.com, 4126 Oleander Drive, Wilmington.
At a potluck
The Hey! Beer Bottle Shop in Wilmington is once again hosting their Super Bowl Party. They’ll have lots of beer options, and it’s potluck so everyone can bring their favorite snacks. They’ll project the game on the big screen for a movie-night atmosphere when watching the game.
It starts at 5 p.m. Details: 910-547-6707, www.heybeernc.com, 4405A Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington.
At a tailgate
It's become an annual tradition at Joe's Oasis in Wilmington. Their tailgate party features pork and chicken in the parking lot. The SENC Veterans Day Parade group partners with them for this event and the restaurant also offers presales for at-home Super Bowl parties.
Proceeds from the pork butts and chicken quarters go to the non-profit. You can also add pierogis and wings to your order.
