8 ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Sacramento: Green beer, live music and Irish food

Friday is St. Patrick’s Day and to celebrate, Sacramento businesses are hosting events and food and drink specials all weekend long.

From bottomless beer to live music and corned beef dinners, there will be an event for everyone.

Here’s what we found.

St. Patrick’s Day food and drink specials in Sacramento

Sacramento is swimming with St. Patrick’s Day food and drink specials including green beer, corned beef dishes and Irish whiskey.

If you gear more to the sweet side, a couple of bakeries around town have holiday-inspired treats.

Here’s the list:

Bottomless green beer at University of Beer | 1510 16th St.

The restaurant University of Beer will serve $19 bottomless green beer between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., Friday.

The catch: You must purchase a full-sized entree, plus there’s a two-hour limit per table that starts when you’re seated.

Food, drinks and live music at Drakes: The Barn | 985 Riverfront St.

Drake’s: The Barn will serve a variety of Irish-inspired food and drink specials all weekend including nachos, corned beef tacos and Irish whiskey mixed drinks.

Sacramento rock band the VinylTones will kick off the live music at 5 p.m. Friday.

Baked goods and Irish-inspired dinner at Ettore’s | 2376 Fair Oaks Blvd.

Place an online order at European Bakery & Restaurant Ettore’s for Paddy’s Day sweets. The restaurant will serve corned beef dinners Friday.

Food and live music at Jamie’s Broadway Grille | 427 Broadway

Jamie’s Broadway Grille’s St. Patrick’s Day party returns this week with corned beef and cabbage, lamb stew, sandwiches, french dip and live music.

Food and drink specials run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday.

Vegan sweets at Conscious Creamery | 3400 Broadway

Vegan sweets shop Conscious Creamery is serving St. Patrick’s Day-inspired limited menu items including “shamrock gelato cookie” sandwiches and “lucky leprechaun gelato” shakes.

From day-long parades to leprechaun scavenger hunts, here’s what’s happening around town this weekend:

Parade and festival at Old Sacramento Waterfront | 1014 Second St.

If you rather celebrate St. Patrick’s Day during the weekend, head to the Old Sacramento Waterfront from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday for a day of live music and outdoor beer gardens.

Two-day Sacramento bar crawl | various locations

If you’re looking to bar hop this weekend, this one is for you.

Hosted by Barcrawlerz, Kiss me, I’m Irish: Sacramento St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl is a two-day event with drink specials.

Participating Sacramento bars include Honey and the Trapcat, District 30, Tipsy Putt, Midici Pizza, River City Saloon, Sean Finnegan’s Pub, Tropics Ale House and Vine + Grain.

The crawl is from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Sunday. Tickets cost between $20 to $60 and of course, you must be 21 or older.

Leprechaun hunt at Old Sacramento Waterfront | 1014 Second St.

If you’re looking for a free family-friendly activity on St. Patrick’s Day, try a leprechaun hunt at Old Sacramento Waterfront.

Use the clues to find the leprechauns hidden throughout the waterfront. For a “real-life leprechaun treasure,” email your bonus answers to events@downtownsac.org before 5 p.m. on Monday, March 20.
