Coroner: 80-year-old woman found dead outside Bishop Fenwick High may have died of hypothermia

The Warren County Coroner's Office says hypothermia is being considered as the cause of death of an 80-year-old woman found dead in front of Bishop Fenwick High School on Wednesday.

The office said in a news release Thursday that investigators found no significant injuries on Waultraut Lafferty during an autopsy performed at the Hamilton County Coroner's Office, and that more testing will be done.

Middletown police said they were called to the high school about 7:40 a.m. after school staff found Lafferty's body. She lived on Fisher Road, near the school.

Police said at the time that Lafferty may have died of hypothermia. Temperatures fell to 3 degrees Wednesday morning in Middletown.
