'82 grad to speak at Minersville commencement
May 24—MINERSVILLE — A 1982 Minersville Area alumnus will return to his alma mater to address the Class of 2023.
Dr. Michael Land will address the 76 seniors at Minersville Area High School. Commencement will take place at 6:30 p.m. June 2 at the Minersville Football Stadium.
In the event of inclement weather, ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. June 3 at the stadium.
The class valedictorian and salutatorian will be announced following the submission and calculation verification of final grades, according to Michael Maley, high school principal.
The senior class officers are Joshua Rizzardi, president; Ray Snyder, vice president; Layla Berzowski, secretary; and Joshua Stacey, treasurer.
Rachelle Jones and Heidi Hashin serve as senior class advisers.
The seniors chose the white rose as its class flower and blue as the class color. The class song is "Good Ole Days" by Macklemore featuring Kesha and the motto for the Class of 2023 is "If the road is wet, it's probably ice."
Baccalaureate will be held at 5:30 pm. May 31 in the high school auditorium, with senior awards following the service.
Prom was held May 6 at Hillcrest Hall, Minersville.
