82-year-old dies after crashing into a fellow skier on the slopes, Utah officials say
An 82-year-old skier died after a two-person crash occurred on a mountain in Utah, the ski resort said.
On April 23, the victim was involved in a skier-to-skier collision on Snowbasin Resort’s mountain, the resort told McClatchy News in a statement. The other skier was not seriously injured.
The crash happened at 9:47 a.m. when the 82-year-old collided with a 47-year-old skier on the slopes of the Snowbasin Resort in Huntsville, according to Gephardt Daily.
Weber Fire District officials were dispatched to the mountain and found the victim in cardiac arrest, according to FOX 13.
McClatchy News reached out to the Weber Fire District and the Weber County Sheriff’s Office on April 24 and is awaiting a response.
Snowbasin ski patrol took the victim off the mountain to “provide emergency medical aid,” the resort said.
Ski patrollers performed CPR until fire officials arrived, according to KUTV. Air Med officials arrived and pronounced the man dead.
Huntsville is about 50 miles northeast of Salt Lake City.
